Personal Allowed Numbers (PAN) List

Overview

Please note that Personal Allowed Numbers (PAN) are not typically used at county facilities. PAN lists are more often used for Department of Corrections agencies. If county facilities use PAN lists, they are more likely to be treated as block lists unless there is a special situation. Site Admins can enable PANs for specific inmates using the Class of Service rules on the Inmate Detail page.

An Inmate Personal Allowed Numbers (PAN) list is a useful ENFORCER® feature that lets each inmate have a customized list of allowed called party numbers. Additionally, an ENFORCER® user can use this feature to:

If the Inmate PAN feature is activated for your facility, inmates can only call numbers on their Inmate PAN list, in addition to called party numbers that are defined as privileged calls in the Global Numbers library.

How an Inmate PAN List is Created

An Inmate PAN list is created in one of the following four ways:

Regardless of which of these methods are used to populate or build an Inmate PAN list, you can still edit each list manually.

PANs on the Inmate Detail page

On the Inmate Detail page, you can view the Personal Allowed/Blocked Numbers (PANs) pane. From here, you can view and edit an Inmate PAN list and view a historical record of changes made to the list. Additionally, you may view and print a PDF report for Inmate PANs.

In the Personal Allowed/Blocked Numbers (PANs) pane of the Inmate Detail page, you can view the inmate's allowed and blocked numbers.

Information available in the Personal Allowed/Blocked Numbers (PANs) pane

Below is an overview of the information available.

Displaying Inactive PANs from the Personal Allowed/Blocked (PANs) pane

By default, the Personal Allowed/Blocked Numbers (PANs) pane does not display any PANs that are inactive. To display inactive numbers, click the Show Inactive PANs checkbox, as shown in the following example. Each Inactive PAN displayed will show InActive in the Active column.

To hide inactive numbers, deselect the Show Inactive PANs checkbox.

Active and Inactive PANs

By default, each inmate may have a maximum of 20 active PANs on their PAN list. The Active status indicates the number has not been deactivated manually by an ENFORCER® user since it was added to the Inmate PAN list. PANs blocked since being added to the Inmate PAN list still count toward the total of active PANs.

Global Entries Information for a PAN

In the Personal Allowed/Blocked Numbers (PANs) pane, the Global Entries column indicates whether a Number Detail Record has been set up in the Global Numbers library or at a site for the called party number. This column may display one of the following values:

Edit PANs

When you access the PAN Edit page for an inmate and you are adding PANs manually, the page is displayed with 20 blank PAN rows per the default maximum number of PANs.

• If your agency/facility has been configured to allow a fewer number of PANs for each inmate, that number of rows will be displayed.
• Each PAN row consists of two rows for information. The heading row indicates where to enter information.

Sort Order of PANs

On the PAN Edit page, PANs are displayed in the following sort order:

If inactive PANs are not being displayed, PANs are displayed in the following sort order:

Edit PAN Page Column Headings and Icons

Heading/Icon Description
Number * Sequence number of the PAN per the sort order described above.
Active (checkbox) Indicates whether the number is active for the inmate. Regardless of how a number record is added to the Inmate PAN list, this box is checked automatically when the number is added. If you deselect this checkbox, the number will be deactivated. However, the number remains on the Inmate PAN list and can be reactivated.

If a block is set on the number after it was originally added to the Inmate PAN list but not deactivated, the number still counts against the total of Active PANs.

Address Lookup Look up the name, address, and street map (if available) of the called part number in the Reverse Lookup table.
Phone Number * Called party phone number.
Speed Dial Speed dial number assigned to a called party number

If you enter a speed dial number for a phone number on an Inmate PAN list, you must use three digits and the first digit must not be a 1.

Description * Optional text entry field where information may be added by a user, especially if it clarifies the PAN to another user. If the PAN was populated automatically through a JMS feed, self-learned is displayed in this field.
First Name, Last Name First and last name of the called party.
Address 1, Address 2, City, State Detailed address information for the called party.
Relationship Inmate's relationship to the called party. This is an optional field. If you manually add an Attorney number to an Inmate PAN list, you should enter Attorney in this field.
Zip The called party zip code.
Block * Displays the origin or reason for the block or displays Not Blocked from the dropdown list. You can also use this dropdown list to block a PAN by selecting a block type for a number that is currently Not Blocked.
In Use If the number in this column is greater than 1, the number is displayed as a hyperlink. The number indicates the count of how many inmates have the phone number present on their Inmate PAN list. You can click the hyperlink to display a list of other inmates who have the call party number on their PAN list.
Call Type * Defaults to All when a number is added. You can use this field to set the phone number as Free Call. If you select Free Call, calls made by the inmate to the called party are free for this inmate only.
Alt Phone This is the alternate phone number if the called party has more than one phone number.

If an alternate number is entered in this field for the called party, both phone numbers count as only one PAN against the allowed number of PANs for the inmate.

Added * The date that the PAN was originally added.
Username ENFORCER user ID of the person who created the PAN if the PAN was created manually.

If the number was added to the Inmate PAN list as the result of being called by the inmate in PAN self-learning mode, this field oster will be displayed here.

* Indicates the field is populated automatically when a number is initially added to an Inmate PAN list when the ENFORCER is configured in PAN self-learning mode.
