Listening to Selected Call Recordings Using the Carousel℠
You can listen to selected call recordings from the Call Records page using the Carousel℠ feature. Like the Carousel℠ feature available for listening to live inmate phone calls in The Observer℠, the Carousel℠ can be used to listen to selected call recordings.
The Carousel℠ lets you rotate through and view call recordings for certain call records you selected on the Call Records page.
The previous example also shows that each selected call record displays the date and time the call began, the CSN assigned to the call, the inmate name and ID, and the called party phone number.
The Carousel℠ Window
The Carousel℠ window is divided functionally into several panes, as described in the following example.
Accessing the Carousel℠
After you select the desired call records from the Call Records page and click Carousel, the Carousel℠ window opens and begins playback of the oldest call recording, as shown in the following example.
The call being played is highlighted by the yellow bar that displays immediately to the right of the call record information in the left column.
Using the Carousel℠
The following table describes fields and functions available in the Carousel℠.
Table: The Carousel℠ Fields and Functions
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Carousel℠ listening queue (left column) | Displays the list of call recordings that you selected for playback. This list is sorted with the oldest record on the bottom and the most recent record at the top. |
| Skip (checkbox) | This checkbox is selected by default when you open the Carousel℠. When selected, the Skip feature enables the auto-rotation of the Carousel℠ through the call recordings you selected in the same sequence displayed in the left column from bottom to top. If you deselect this checkbox, the Carousel℠ will continue to play the current call recording until one of several events occurs, as described in the following section. |
| Skip every _ seconds (field) | When you open the Carousel℠, the Skip every _ seconds field is set to 5 by default. By entering a different value, you can change how long each call recording is played before the Carousel℠ rotates to the next one. |
| Next→ (click link) | Enables you to manually advance to the next call recording on the list for playback. |
| Light Blue highlight | When a call recording is being played, the information about the call in the left column will be highlighted in light blue. |
| Yellow Line | In the left column, a yellow vertical line is displayed immediately to the right of the call record information to indicate that at least a part of the call recording has been played since the Carousel℠ was opened. |
| Bypass include (click links) | In the left column, you can click Bypass to skip playback of the current call recording if you are not interested. If you click Bypass while the call recording is playing, the Carousel℠ will skip to the next one in the list. You can exclude as many call recordings as desired by clicking Bypass. After you click Bypass, the word Include is displaed. To place a call recording back in the listening queue, click Include. |
Listening to Call Recordings
When you first open the Carousel℠, it immediately plays the oldest call recording. By default, the Carousel℠ plays a five-second sample of each call recording, rotates to the next recording, plays it for five seconds, and continues with all recordings in the listening queue. If you turn off this auto-rotation by deselecting the Skip every _ seconds checkbox, the current call recording being played will continue to play until one of the following events occurs:
- You click
to play the next call recording in the listening queue. - You click inside the call record information anywhere except on the underlined inmate name for any other record displayed in the left column.
- You click Bypass to advance to the next call recording in the list.
Listening to a Specific Call Recording
The list of call records in the Carousel℠ listening queue is displayed in the left column of the Carousel℠ window. These records are sorted by the time the phone call began, with the oldest call on top and the newest call on the bottom.
To select a specific call record to listen to in the Carousel℠, click anywhere except on the underlined inmate name/ID in the call record information in the left column, as shown in the following example. The Carousel℠ immediately begins playing that call recording.
If the call recording you want to play happens to be the next in the list, click
as shown in the example above.
Changing the Rotation Frequency of Call Playback
To make the Carousel℠ rotate through call recordings more frequently or less frequently, you can change the numeric value in the Skip every _ seconds field.
After you enter a different number in the Skip every _ seconds field, the Carousel℠ will jump to the next call recording based on the number of seconds you specify. It will continue this rotation through the listed call recordings each time the interval of seconds is reached. To modify the interval of seconds a call recording plays before rotating to the next one, simply click in the field and type in the desired number of seconds.
If the Carousel℠ has reached the end of the list of call recordings, it will start over with the oldest call recording and continue to rotate toward the most recently started recording.
If you click any action button while a call recording is playing, the Skip every _ seconds feature is disabled until you manually select another recording for playback or reselect the Skip every _ seconds checkbox.
Bypassing a Call Recording
The Carousel℠ continues to rotate through call recordings as long as the Carousel℠ is open. If there are specific recordings that you no longer want to listen to while rotating through the recordings, click Bypass in the left column. The line item containing the details about the call will be darkened, and the link will change from Bypass to Include, as shown in the following example.
If you bypass a call recording like this, you cannot click it in the left column to play it. Also, you cannot select it to be played by clicking
. Click Include to reactivate the call recording and place it back in the playing rotation sequence.
Accessing Detailed Inmate Information
Suppose you click on an underlined inmate ID or an underlined inmate name in the Web Player window. In that case, The ENFORCER® opens the Inmate Detail page for the inmate on the call recording in a separate window under the Inmate function. After opening and viewing an Inmate Detail page, you must close its window separately from the Carousel℠ window. The Carousel℠ continues to play in the original window.
Saving Historical Information or Downloading a Call Recording
As with the Web Player, you can save/view notes, add bookmarks, and download call recordings in the Web Player. The buttons to perform these functions are shown in the following example.
